Our Story
Laayam is not a word
we invented.
In the Malayalam spoken across Kerala's high ranges, a Laayam was a row of modest hillside homes built along the natural contour of the land. These homes were simple, practical and deeply connected to their surroundings. They didn't reshape the landscape. They adapted to it. That idea became the foundation of this retreat. Rather than building over the hills, Laayam was imagined as a place that belongs within them… Quiet, unhurried and respectful of the land it calls home. It's more than a name. It's a reminder that the most meaningful places aren't the loudest ones. They're the ones that feel as though they've always been there
